Walk into a shop in November and someone will tell you a jacket is “850 fill power, so it's the warmest one we do.” That statement is not quite a lie, but it is close enough to one that people routinely spend several hundred euros on a jacket that is colder than the cheaper option next to it.
Puferhub was started to write the things nobody selling a jacket has an incentive to tell you: that fill power measures efficiency rather than warmth, that down collapses when wet, that air-drying a washed down jacket destroys it, and that the visual language of the entire category was worked out by a man having a very bad day in 1936.
What you will find here
Four things, and deliberately nothing else. A history of how the garment got here. A breakdown of the six silhouettes and who each one actually suits. A buying guide that explains the specifications properly. And a blog — currently 8 long-form pieces, around 59 minutes of reading.
There is no shop, no newsletter, no product database and no “best of 2026” listicle updated quarterly for search traffic. Those are all fine businesses. They are not this one.
How it is funded
Through advertising, and nothing else. Ads pay the hosting bill and the time spent writing. They are served by third-party networks and we do not control which specific ads appear, which is precisely why they cannot influence the editorial.
What we do not do is take money from the brands we write about. No affiliate commissions, no sponsored articles, no paid rankings. If we tell you a €120 Uniqlo jacket is better value than a €900 one, it is because we think so, and we earn exactly the same either way.
